I’m not the same girl who was so haunted by C leaving. Yesterday, I took V to a restaurant for a quick lunch. I fussed around ordering, getting her settled and into a high chair. I didn’t even think about it until we were seated outside with our food. Oh yeah. I used to come … Continue reading
What I’ve learned about perfect days: They are not sleeping in, enjoying coffee in silence, reading a book on the patio, going to the beach, having lunch with a friend, watching the sun go down, having a date with the husband, watching a movie and falling asleep spooning. They were like that, before. But today’s … Continue reading
At the playground, the sun is dipping below the trees, and the frantic air possessing all the kids calms down. We can all feel it: the electricity has left the premises. The day is ending. Soon, it will be time for dinner, bath, and bed. And all the parents will breathe a collective sigh. V … Continue reading
I know I talked about The Art of Hearing Heartbeats the other day, but I just finished it tonight and…it is one of those books that you have to read in your life. Tears sprung to my eyes in the office at work as I finished the final chapter. It is so good, and life … Continue reading
Have a staff meeting coming up? Having trouble getting along with your coworkers, or just wanting to feel more connected? Try a love line. Have everyone on your team get in two lines and face each other, with enough room for one person to walk down the middle. As the person at the front of … Continue reading
I’m currently reading book 26 of my “Read 30 books in 2018 even though I have a kid challenge” (lol) and it’s The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker. First of all, I’m not even halfway through, and I can already tell that this is one of those beautiful books that is going to … Continue reading
Guys. My husband found me this sugar free candy at Whole Foods when I quit sugar earlier this year. They were gummy bears, and despite not having cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup (or agave or anything like that), they tasted like gummy bears. And unlike other sugar free candies, there is no sorbitol … Continue reading
I can’t believe I’m already 20 blogs in! Twenty percent done. I also can’t believe there are 80 blogs left. That feels like so many, haha. 😭 Anyway, here’s the skirt I was talking about yesterday! After I blogged last night, I went downstairs and gave the sewing machine another go. And you know what?! … Continue reading
One of my short-term goals is to make V and myself matching skirts by the end of the summer. Which, despite our SoCal heatwave this week, is approaching rapidly. The only snag is that I haven’t used a sewing machine in, like, fourteen years. I love to sew, and I’ve mostly always hand-sewn. There’s something … Continue reading
Being the only day we actually both have off together, Sunday is family day around here. We wake up, have breakfast and coffee, do our errands and play with V, and then we make the six minute drive to C’s parents’ house and all have dinner together. These days are extra special — I’m sure … Continue reading
